[Deskaheh-sysadmin] cron / syndication / backup issues on Hamilton site

Hi folks:

First let me say thanks:

Emails from last week make it sound like things are being done to try to
fix some of the deskaheh / hamilton tech issues and thats great!

Also thanks to Damian for coming forward to help out!

One of the issues on the table is that Hamilton's features no longer
appear in the right hand col. of the world site. I assume that this is
because our crontasks are broken and that the syndicate tasks do that work.

I understand that fixing the backup portion of this problem may take
some time, but i was wondering if getting just the features problem
fixed might be easier than fixing the whole thing, since i assume that
the nature of the problem (if there is any at all) might be different there

Also there was an email from Brian saying that he was still doing daily
backups. It's a bit of a mystery to me how that works since the cron
part of that seems to be unrunnable right now, it would be helpful to
hear more from Brian about the details of what is being done and how

In the past finn manually kicked the backup process to produce an sql
backup that I was able to download. It would be good if we could do that
on a regular (weekly?) basis so that we are confident that we have
backup I would be happy to run whatever is necessary to create the
backup myself, if I was told how, except that there is another issue in
the way, there is a problem with my deskaheh account:

I can connect via sftp using filezilla, and navigate around the system
fine, but when I try to log on a console session using ssh with putty as
my client and with the same user id and password I get this:

login as: *************
Password: *************
Access denied
No supported authentication methods left to try!
