You do realize that every site hosted on dissent was all but unreachable
for over 12 hours due to this bandwidth abuse, right?
While you may see this as an acceptable downside of your site policies,
it's not fair to assume that all the other users of these shared
resources agree.
Limiting media linking to indymedia sites obviously won't eliminate the
possibility of any bandwidth misue, but if you look at the links in this
case, the problem would have been prevented.
FYI, you'll have a better time backing up media files with rsync than
through the web anyhow.
