[IMC-Dissent-admin] too many connections

We've got a lot of mysql error messages lately like
Warning: mysql_connect(): Too many connections in
/home/httpd/sfa_92/sf-active/shared/classes/db_class.inc
on line 28

Besides, we'd like to (re)activate the mail server
again.

Does anybody have any suggestions/recommendations?
