<irony> At the risk of sounding too organized, there is a lot of talk
around the IMC world about tricky schemes to mirror data across 500
servers, half of which should be hidden under rocks in countries with no
diplomatic ties to the U.S. and the other half of which should be driven
around in recycled VW microbuses on a peer to peer wireless SSL
tunnel....."</irony>

O.K. it seems, though I'm not sure of this, that Ski is the only one
that can kick the box, and that his email for "box needs kicking"
traffic passes through said box. Is this true? If so, not to dis. Ski in
any way, but this strikes me as a weakness in our network.

Could we turn our minds to working up a faster & more fault tolerant
recovery protocol for Deskaheh sites, this problem seems to occur every
3-4 months. (the lock up, not the long delay) This would have the added
benifit of saving Ski a car trip to another city, which I assume is now
required.

Could it be as simple as a phone number to the colo site so that whoever
works there could reset it? (he said hopefully) IMC Hamilton would be
willing to support such an effort I'm sure.

But yes please, "kick the box" first.
