1. Polycentric WSF 2006 Caracas (Venezuela)
Registration of organizations and individuals
Registration of organizations and its delegates are open since December 22nd. Registration forms are at the website: http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/Delegados.html. Individual participants, which means, people who are not linked to any organization, can also register by clicking on the link: http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/Participantes/Participantes.php. The forms are available only in Spanish.
Notice: there were some technical problems at the website www.forosocialmundial.org.ve, therefore, the people who had registered before December 22nd should register again.
Program
The full list containing the 2,200 self-organized events registered at the 2nd Americas Social Forum and polycentric WSF in Caracas can also be visualized here. The list is in alphabetically ordered by name of the organization. It includes all the changes made through the website www.wsf2006.org until December 18th, 2005 at12 a.m (Venezuela). Attention: as it had been previously announced, changes that were made after this deadline will not be on the program.
To cancel an activity, the primary contact person of the organization must send an e-mail to programa at forumsocialmundial.org.br , until January 2nd, 2006. On the topic, write, cancel activity. On the message, the following items must be informed: activity number (activity ID), its title, the name of the organization and its number (organization ID).

Payment
The Caracas polycentric event's Organizing Committee has published their registration fees (in US dollars). See below:
- Countries members of OECD - Germany, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Korea, Denmark, Spain, United States, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Luxemburg, Norway, New Zealand, Portugal, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden - except for Mexico: US$ 120 (5 delegates included) and US$ per individual participant.
- Other countries: US$ 30 for organizations (5 delegates included) and US$ 4 extra (individuals)
- Venezuela: US$ 30 for organizations and Venezuelans do not have to pay for the registration fee.

Once the deposit is done, a copy of the receipt must be sent by fax to (58 212) 208-4823, along with the organization's name and registration code.
The receipt may also be sent by e-mail (scanned in jpg format) to inscripcion at forosocialmundial.org.ve .
The delegates' named may also be added later on. The deadline is on January 10th, 2006. To do so, go to the WSF Venezuela website (www.forosocialmundial.org.ve), click on "Organizaciones inscritas" (left side menu) and enter the form with your username and password of the person responsible for registration.
Press registration
Press registration forms for covering the WSF 2006 Caracas are available on the link http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/Medios/Formulario_medios.php . The deadline for on-line registration is on January 10th, 2006. Below, your will find criteria for registration.
1.To receive credentials in Porto Alegre, registered professionals must present their media credentials or a professional journalism document.
2. Journalists representing NGOs and social movements at WSF who are providing services for these organizations must present a sample in their particular media along with the credentials of their entity.
3. Journalism students who are covering for any communication media of their college must present a student ID and a sample of their work. Limit per organization is 10 students.
4. Credentials will allow professionals to have free access to the press support structures and to the press conferences.

Volunteers
Registration to take part in the Caracas event as a volunteer is also open. The registered person is able to choose from the following areas: methodology and content; organization and logistics; culture; communication; expansion and youth camp. In order to register, you only need to fill out the registration form at the link: http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/Voluntarios/Voluntarios.php.
Visa
Check information about requirements for getting a visa at the Venezuelan embassy closest to you. Whoever needs an invitation letter must write on the registration form their passport number and expiry date. For further information, check the website:

Lodgment
The event's organizers have published a list of people offering solidary accommodation in Caracas. Check the link: http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/alojamiento.php. Whoever wants to offer accommodation in Caracas, may register on the form: http://www.forosocialmundial.org.ve/Alojamiento/Alojamiento.php. Soon, the list of hotels in the city will be published.

Caracas is the capital of Venezuela and it is also its largest city. It is the country's economic and cultural center. It has 1.930 km² and a population of 4 million people. By clicking here you will get to know more about the polycentric WSF 2006 Americas host-city (in Spanish).

Registration of organizations and participants for the WSF 2006 Bamako remains open. The form is available in French (http://www.fsmmali.org/inscription.php) and English (http://www.fsmmali.org/inscription.php?lang=en).

The Youth Camp will take place on the same days as the polycentric WSF 2006 Bamako (from January 19th to 23rd, 2006). The camp has been named Thomas Sankara. Bamako
Bamako is the capital of Mali and it is located on the West region of Africa. It has an area of 809.552 km2 and a population of around 1 million and 500 people. 3. Polycentric WSF 2006 Karachi (Pakistan)
Deadline for registering activities for the polycentric WSF 2006 Karachi (Pakistan) is on January 31st, 2006. Registration of activities must be done at the website http://www.wsf2006.org/. Click here and see the steps to register your activity.
Registration of organizations and individuals are open. The deadline is the same as for registration of activities. In order to register, enter the website www.wsf2006karachi.org.

Karachi
Karachi is Pakistan's biggest city and one of the biggest city in the world. It was the capital of Pakistan until 1963. Nowadays the city is the country's commercial and financial "capital". It has the highest number of universities and educational institutions of Pakistan. Read here further information about the country.
4. Registrations for the Binational Camp Brazil - Uruguay are open
Registration of participants for the Binational Camp Brazil - Uruguay are alredy open. There are two categories :
Delegates - will be able to take part in all Camp's activities. Fee : 100 reais. Camp - will be able to attend all activities and stay at the Camp. Fee : 20 reais.
Workshop registration is also open. All registrations can be done at the website www.forumbinacinal.org.br. They can also be registered at committees located in Porto Alegre, Pelotas, Santa Vitória do Palmar, Chuí, Rio Grande, Chuy, Rocha and Montevidéu.
The Binational Camp will take place in Barro do Chuí - Brazil / Barra del Chuy - Uruguay, from January 24th to 29th, simultaneously to the polycentric WSF 2006 Caracas. More information, write to comitefsmsulrs at yahoo.com.br.
5. Notice: the WSF 2006 does not have an official travel agency!
There is no official travel agency for the WSF 2006 polycentric events, nor the organizing committees of these events are organizing trips to the places hosting the 6th WSF. Registered participants must organize their own trips and make lodgment reservations themselves. For the ones who are interested in solidary accommodation in Caracas, check the website www.forosocialmundial.org.ve. At the same website there is information about alternative accommodation for groups.
6. Registration of activities for the 4th European Social Forum are open
Registration of activities for the 4th European Social are already open and can be done at the website http://workspace.fse-esf.org. The deadline is in February 2006. But attention: most part of the proposals shall be analyzed during the next ESF preparatory Assembly, which will take place on January 7th and 8th, 2006.
The ESF's fourth edition will take place in Athens (Greece), from April 6th to 9th,,2006. For further information, enter the website : www.fse-esf.org
7. 6th Mesoamerican Forum
The 6th Mesoamerican Forum took place from December 12th to 14th, 2005 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Around 1,300 people and 600 organizations participated in the event. See further information at the website www.encuentropopular.org, or write to info at encuentropopular.org
8. Survey on WSF 2005 participants
A survey conducted by Ibase and supported by partner networks, draws a profile of people who participated at the World Social Forum's fifth edition, which took place from January 26th to 31st, 2005, in Porto Alegre. Around 2.500 people have answered the survey. Read here some results :
- Increase of public in comparison to the WSF previous editions. At the WSF 2004, which ocurred in India, 106 countries participated in the event. As for the 5th WSF, this number increased up to 149. There were 155 thousand registered people, without including Porto Alegre residents.
- Characteristics : the participants agree with the Charter of Principles. They take part in some network or social movement, they have a critical position towards the neoliberal globalization process, they admit it is necessary to change the world, but not using violence.
- Young people : there was an increase in participation of young people at the WSF 2005. Around 25% of the people registered at the 5th WSF are youngsters.
- Methodology : 20% of the interviewed people said they have taken part in the interlinking process of activities and in the thematic consultation.
