Hi Andy! I will try to response to some of the points raised in the mail below
and then my input on the agenda for Friday's IRC(Internet Relay Chat) meeting
I'll put in a seperate mail. Concerning sources of funds, we are also
expecting
funds from individual donations and local IMCs.

On the question of disbursement of budget for the purchase of equipment due to
availability and shipping time to insure that all necessary FM broadcast kits
and parts can be obtained in time; the situation is as follows:

Umverteilen

Umverteilen approved their grant of 12,000 EUR (about $14000 USD) to
support the
project. Umverteilen states they will make disbursements in 3 installments of
4.000 each, the second and third disbursement coming after reports on how the
first disbursement was used is sent in.
Umverteilen specified their funds be used for the transportation of African
delegates as included in our request and cost on the ground in via; housing,
feeding, print project and other cost on the ground to run the
center-stationeries etc.
What that indeed means is that since Fabian was the person who made the
application, he will have to write a report to umverteilen as requested i.e.
after the first disbursement and there after, for the other two disbursements.
I know Fabian should be trying now to get unverleilen to make the first
disbursement.

XminusY and IMC-Finance

Jay put in an application to IMC-Finance and I put in one with XminusY. Both
applications requested for funds to buy equipment for the radio including the
computers for editing, streaming and automation. IMC-Finance is rounding-up
discussions on giving us the grant, the same is the case with XminusY.
I got an
mail from XminusY which I copied this list my reply a few days back.
So as soon as there is conclusion from IMC-Finance or XminusY we should
immediately make the funds available for payment of the equipments.
This far we
have just $211.12 we received as donations from some local indymedias.
But both from the Contact persons of X minus Y and IMC-finance discussions the
funds will be granted. IMC-Finance will grant the Amount we asked I
suppose and
XminusY will give us some funds as it seems our application came in
pretty late
and other projects had been approved. In the days ahead we should be down with
equipment buying.
Sphinx.
