Hi Andy and everyone,

The $4250 came from the original budget of that
being the amount necessary to buy the equipment
for the Maseno station. I can fish up that
document if you'd like -- it should be in both
the imc-africa and imc-finance archives. We also
applied for money from X minus Y for the same
equipment, and in the meantime revised the
numbers so we could possibliy build two stations
with the money allotted. So, we ended up getting
both batches of money -- yee haw!

If I remember correctly the budget we sent to
imc-finance did include money for the computers
necessary to run the station/s. I've been a bit
out of the loop with equipment discussions, so I
don't know who is buying computers and where they're coming from.

I don't know about X minus Y, but for imc-finance
I think the easist thing would be for the money
to go in one big chunk to one place rather than
break it up into bits. If we get the initial
check sent to Prometheus, if you're okay with
that, Prometheus can have access immediately to
as much as you need to buy the necessary
equipment. Otherwise I'm afraid we'd make things
much too tricky, especially in these next couple
weeks when you relly need to have cash on hand.

My main question after that is a logisitcal one:
what will be the best way to access the money we
have while people are in Nairobi? Soon what's
going to happen is that Sphinx, Andy, Fabian etc.
will join John in Nairobi, and they're going to
need to access money on the spot. After
Prometheus purchases what it needs to buy the
equipment, we could figure out where the rest of
the money should go so the crowd on the ground in
Nairobi will best be able to get to it. Maybe
it's to someone with an account at an
international bank that has a branch in
Nairobi? Is Nairobi on the global ATM/MAC
system? I haven't been in Africa in a couple
years, so my ideas of how complicated money
transfers can be from the U.S. to Africa may be
outdated -- maybe getting hold of international money in Nairobi is easy?
