Hi all,
I have about a decades worth of experience with an activist
silk-screening collective about 10 BC (that's, Before Computers, in the
80s). Our four color press was hand built and manually run. To build a
press, you would need:
1 turn-table
16' L shape aluminum
16 hinges
16 springs
16 clamps
some plywood
some bolts and screws
For the screens,
1 staple gun
silkscreen
photosensitive emulsion
1"x1" wood for frames
1 300w light
4 squeeges
assorted inks for paper and textiles
I think we can get all this stuff in Nairobi. The inks and the emulsion
might be expensive but might not. I think we could build a four color
press for under $300 USD.
Look forward to meeting everyone.
