Hi all! I've just sent out an invitation from the mailing list to Judith
Miguda-Attyang chairperson of the Dept. of Communication and Media Technology
of Maseno University in Kenya and Chris Hill from Antioch College in
southwestern Ohio involved in a join project with Maseno University.
Since we are about to get down to the discussions to prepare for the WSF, I
think Judith and Chris joining this discussion will help advance the overall
goal of supporting and helping those doing grassroots media work in Africa;
Kenya.
Judith and Chris are obviously interested in getting Maseno University students
connected to the global alternative media network.

Also I think a University in Kenya being involved in the WSF preparation is
definitely a good thing. In that, alternative media activists from around the
World whom mostly happen to be students working with Students from a Kenyan
University in the WSF in Kenya is definitely going to be a great experience for
both.

Hello Oloo!, please check the following information out so that we can get going
with the discussion with the folks from Prometheus radio and NYC-Wireless
network.
-1.What does the law in Kenya says about running a community micro/Low powered
Fm radio?? That is, does such a project need a license to function? If yes what
is the procedure for acquiring a license.
Prometheus has a very tight schedule and if we really want them to come down to
Kenya in January and help out with building a community radio for those doing
grassroots organizing we have to be very clear on how serious we are right now.

-2. Is there already a physical space in which we'll set-up the indymedia
Center during the Conference?
-3.What amount of resources are available as of now via computers, internet
access, lodging for those who will like to come to the WSF, (will we need a
standby Generator for energy?) etc

Oloo, this information is necessary for us to start the discussions in a more
serious way.

Peace
Sphinx
