Hi all! I've been trying for most of the beginning of the week to call X-Y.
Unfortunately it seems the number on their site is down. I hope to again fax
them the application we sent by mail.
Jay! I agree that we pull off the computer cost from the IMC-Finance
application. Hopefully Chema and the Swiss group will be able to provide us
with enough computers and may be X-Y can accept our application.
On the question of IMC-finance paying for equipment that would be
handed out to
Maseno-Uni, I think that will definitely be a serious question in imc-finance.
Yet, the equipment is not being or will NOT be given to Maseno as a
present. It
simply will be installed Maseno premises for use by Maseno university students
AND community radio activists and of course indymedia folks. Hope John and
Judith get that in their Memorandum.
And I wish to hope that the IMC-Kenya people will see this as a chance to
really work on building their IMC, both in Kusumu and in Nairobi. In so doing
the question of indymedia finance paying for equipment that ends not
exactly in
the hands of indymedia people will get off the table since IMC Kenya is indeed
the link between the radio and global indymedia network. I'm hoping that IMC
Kenya people will be organized enough to have a space also in Nairobi
after the
forum, where their imc can function. So that, the computers and other
equipment
from the event for desktop publishing and others can stay in Nairobi at the
indymedia space while the radio goes to Kusumu-Maseno.
Bye for now
Sphinx
I've aloso not been lucky enough to get hold of anyone from UC-IMC.
