[Imc-africa] IRC chat -- 10th of november.

Hi all,

Sorry I won't be at the IRC meeting 
today.  Hannah, thanks for putting together such 
a clear and productive agdena.  There has only 
been one response so far to our proposal on 
imc-finance and it's an encouraging one.  Tonight 
I'll respond to the questions they raised and cc imc-africa.

Hi everyone,

the imc paris-île de france collective supports the request made by
the imc-africa working group for funds to be attributed for the
purchase of equipment to build an independent media centre in Nairobi
in January of next year.

This is an interesting initiative that will help to develop
independent media networks in Africa through the creation of a good
skills base in radio among the activist community. It seems a good
idea to take advantage of the fact that so many activists will be
present in Nairobi to organize such a project at this time.

The proposal was a little unclear as to the sources of the other funds
being sought by imc-kenya, and we hope that these 'sponsors' will not
be exercising any control over any of the contents that are produced
by the media centre team: we'd like to suggest that the media centre
present itself as 'independent' of the Social Forum itself.

We would be very interested in hearing the reports of the workshops,
about follow-up at the local level around the region, and the
subsequent community uses of the equipment in Nairobi.
