Hi Florence ! Sorry it took a while to respond to your mail but as you see we
are neck deep in prep; so I?ll give a hurried answer to just give an idea of
how the things look like, which can then be beefed-up by others and from the
wiki pages and the archives of this is list as well as conversations in Kenya.

As far mobilization for this Convergence indymedia Center is concern, the
approach has been very typical of that done for most indymedia events.
That is, an activists get?s information about an event, and writes to a
network list to start a network wide discussion on the need for indymedia to
get involved in the event and if there is no veto from a local indymedia group
volunteers who can, get down to work for the event. In this case the WSF, and
the activist who introduced it being Oloo-from indymedia Kenya.
Some indymedia volunteers, who have been very interested in indymedia
growth and
development in Africa, took on advertising the project to individuals through
private mails and phone calls, to other groups, and contacting potential
partners for such an event. And in so doing Prometheus radio-a veteran in
grassroots radio projects; was contacted and they got on board with
full force.
On the African side, forming indymedia groups and volunteers got on board and
since then we?ve been working on the details of how the event should be
(content), how to fund event and especially how to get all the
delegates there,
to to share skills; which is at the core of our motivation for this event, and
of course the wonderful benefits of face-to-face meetings in a world wide
network like indymedia.

Sure, you?ll be able to meet indymedia folks at the Convergence indymedia
Center that will be operated from : lavington on James Gichuru Road: Nairobi.

This, you can get at the Convergence Center. We?ll be also using the wiki we
have set for the event and indymedia-Kenya website for reporting on the event
and of course you should be able to listen to the World Social Forum (WSF)
Convergence IMC Radio.

I think a couple of ppl who could be helpful will surely be at the Convergence
Center too. But in between, you may wish to take a look at Africa on the local
site of the indymedia wiki.

By the way, surely others in this list would find time to add a few more lines
to it.
