[Imc-africa] Where we are with preparation for the WSF-IMC

This is a mail I thought I had send out last week but somehow I did not:-p.

Hi all! In the days ahead we hope to take the preparation for the Kenya event
one step further by putting together a budget; detail list of equipments,
transportation to Kenya, physical-Space where we?ll set the IMC, food,
lodging, and maybe try to get going on more content details like what 
workshops
and activities we will be having in Kenya.

Since we sent out the call in September, there have been many new 
subscribers to
the lists. Thus we?ll hopefully be getting more ideas and inputs on the
discussions.

We also had a couple of people who indicated their desire to come to 
Nairobi and
participate in the Convergence IMC center.

I wish to again ask for those who may still wish to come to Kenya to 
participate
in the Convergence IMC to indicate by mail to the list, because some 
donors want
gender parity in delegations they sponsor for events, it will be nice if
individuals indicated their gender, where it is not obvious from their names
:-) . I know this sounds somewhat awkward but some donors do need this
information. Providing this information now saves us the time lost in the to
and fro checking of gender info. Thanks for understanding.

VOLUNTEERS
-Hannah (f) and Siyade(f) from Prometheus radio will run workshops on building
and operating a Low Powered FM and can food box antennas (contennas).
-C.T. Butler co-founder of FoodNotBombs is coming to do train the trainer
workshops on non-violent social change and consensus organizing.
- Stephanie in Berlin is collecting equipment around Europe for the 
Convergence
IMC.



-FUNDRAISING.
It will surely be a lot easier to break-up the fundraising into three separate
pieces.
-Equipment:
Both for Radio and Independent Media Center as a whole
-Transportation for delegates and volunteers.

-Other logistics via rents, lodging, internet and food.

We are estimating that for the radio Station, adding stationeries to 
the list of
equipment we got last time from Prometheus radio, could round the figure to
$$5000.

-Hopefully tech soli can still help to collect and rewind computers.
Fabian will you take on the transportation with Umverteilung.??

This was just to give a view of how the things are now.
