Hi everybody,

I agree with the points Sphinx made and would like to urge groups and
individual African IMCistas to express their opinion of coming and
joining into the Kenya Meeting as soon as possible.
SA? are you up for it?
Uganda?
East-Africa?
Canarias?
estrecho/Marocco?
Togo?
I would like to remind you also of the importance that women and men
are represented equally in possible delegations to strenghen the role
of women participating in indy-media projects. This should be included
into the network call out as well I think.
I agree with the priority list for funding travel costs as layed out by
Shpinx, but in regards to Glenda's point raised we might want to
include into potential priority funding african diaspora activists,
espially in cases where in their homelands repressive governments are
prohibiting the existance of local independent media.
In any way much of this is down to potential funding bodies.

For the accomondation in nairobi and the general "feel" of the
convergence, I would like to support John's idea to get a house or
several houses in one aera for all or as many as possible of the
Indymedia convergence to stay together like it was the case in Dakar
and Bamako.

For the IMCs stand towards the WSF, I think we need to discuss this a
bit more profundly. This will also help us to start working on a
program/content for the convergence. Some questions/ideas :
To what degree to we understand ourselves as part of the WSF and to
what degree to we understand as a independent media, remaining in a
critical distance to the WSF? This is about the role of the IMC
convergence at the WSF. This also relates to the potential aim and
outcome of the convergence. I think we all agree on the need to ensure
that the stopover of the WSF circus has a local impact in the region.
How can Indymedia in its pariticipation help that this is the case? How
can we include more people in Kenia and around in East-Africa in to the
process of independent media activism, reaching beyond the scope of
already connected activists? Where should workshops take place, inside
or outside the WSF? Where is the radio and the IMC to be located, so
people fell easy to walk inside and take part? What would be other
means of outreach? for example, should we try to go down different
software routes in regards to open-publishing ( for example with
blogs)?

Thanks a lot for the discussion,
hope to hear from you all soon...

Fabian
