Hi Jay and colleagues,
  We too are excited about the WSF! I think we must now get down to concrete business in terms of making concrete preparations. Find below answers to some of your questions:
  - find the right physical space for the IMC.  (is it big enough for the number of people we expect?  does it have enough electricity?  what sort of access will there be to the public, i.e. is it in a building that requires some sort of conference badge to get in?  will we have to pay any rent on the room?) We need to have an indication of the people expected to come so that we can finalise plans for the rented house. This November, youth from across the world will be converging in Nairobi for the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change. I have made arrangements for them to be hosted at a guesthouse that can comfortably host 35 people or 50 people if some of them camp in the huge garden of the house. The cost for one month is 1300 US dollars including internet access. If we pay fot for the entire month of January, then Indymedia people can stay there exclusively for this duration. The guesthouse is about 10 - 15 minutes drive from the city centre in a place
 known as Westlands. Apart from internet, it also has a phone and electricity. There is also a kitchen and a cook who can prepare meals at an additional cost of about 5 - 10 dollars per person. This house can host people and also act as a headquarters of sorts. I will confirm with Onyango concerning space for Indymedia at the official venue of WSF.
   
  Concerning the issue of available computers, some of us here have our own personal computers but we do not have computers as Indymedia Kenya. There is thus need for computers to be purchased or for people who are coming to bring some so that we can network them at the house for more people to access internet. I will be confirming with you concerning the bandwidth. 
  
There are many organizational issues to approach too, such as figuring out exactly what we kind of things we envision happening at the IMC: a low power radio station definitely, but also do we want to webcast the radio station?  That will require the right computer/s.  Do we want to have a print project to write articles about the WSF while it's happening?  Do we want to do updates on a WSF web site?  (if so, where will the site be hosted and what techs will maintain it?).  What sort of workshops/trainings will we try to hold?  How will we publicize them (print something up?  if so, how much will that cost?).  Everyone should provide further input into these questions.

John, do you think your working group could come up with a quick list of costs for those things, as well as an estimate of office supplies and any other logistics?  They can be rough estimates, but we really should start talking numbers soon.  If we rent the house for one month, we can use of the room/s as an office, so the cost would be covered in the 1300 USD that we will be paying. We would also need to buy a printer (about 100 USD) and office stationery (about 100 - 200 USD) depending on the quantity. People can come with their cell phones and buy local SIM cards (one SIM card is about two USD) We could use the house's phone to make international phone calls, or use skype. By rough estimate, we would need about 300 USD to over phone bills and fax bills.
