Hi John

Peter from South Africa here. We're very interested in supporting an
Indymedia space, both in terms of funding the space (if we can get a
funding proposal together ASAP that would be good) as well as coming to
Nairobi to participate & assist. And of course, we love supporting
Indymedia Kenya!

In addition to Indymedia creating an IMC, we're interested in the
possibility of linking the Indymedia space to a larger experiment /
space to highlight 'horizontal' styles of decision making - I think the
workshop sphinx is talking about is very relevant here. Are other people
also interested in this?

On these questions:
*
There are many organizational issues to approach too, such as figuring
out exactly what we kind of things we envision happening at the IMC: a
low power radio station definitely, but also do we want to webcast the
radio station? That will require the right computer/s. Do we want to
have a print project to write articles about the WSF while it's
happening? Do we want to do updates on a WSF web site? (if so, where
will the site be hosted and what techs will maintain it?). What sort of
workshops/trainings will we try to hold? How will we publicize them
(print something up? if so, how much will that cost?).* Everyone
should provide further input into these questions.

We would very much support budgetting for producing a print newsletter.
As to a WWW site - for Bamako we hosted (with varying degrees of
success) articles on two Indymedia sites - SA (though we had publishing
problems there during the WSF) and Marseilles, as well as some posts to
Global Indymedia. We have time, however, to propose a specific
wsf.indymedia.org, hosted by a group within the global Indymedia
network. Do people think this is a good idea?

As to workshops - Fabian, wasn't there some kind of intro-to-Indymedia
workshop in Bamako? That would be a good idea again. And a gendered
workshop along the lines that Glenda suggests sounds interesting - if
our slogan is 'be your own journalist', then the way women's voices are
silenced is a helluva relevant topic. Maybe different groups coming to
Nairobi could input on workshops they could hold?

Another thing - is there a possibility of film screenings? Do you have
access to a video projector over there? Could one be hired? Again,
Glenda's comments about the film festival in SA come to mind (do you
mean the 3 Continents one organised by Uhuru Productions, Glenda)

Fabian, do you think we could recycle parts of last year's Bamako
funding proposal to use as a basis for the Nairobi one?

Viva Indymedia ! Aluta Continua !!
