Hi Charles! Sorry for the late reply to your mail. As you probably
already know
we are all volunteers and sometimes important mails like yours get here while
we are all cut-up in other stuff.
Overall, it is an excitement to get one more voice from Meseno on the
project to
add to Judith.

Thus I?ve sent you an invitation to join this list, where all the discussions
and planning for the WSF-IMC will be taking place and where your ideas will be
appreciated and you can follow the discussions as they develop.

Indeed Maseno has been an important piece of the thought process for this IMC.
Basically we hope that Judith and may be you, could help put together an
independent media club or something of that sort in Maseno to act as
the bridge
between Maseno University and the indymedia Kenya project.

The advantage for the indymedia project is that with your school involved,
indymedia with it?s consensus based-structure of making media content, could
be introduced to your students and thus has a potential to get many of them
join the alternative media movement. For your school on the other hand it will
expose your students to the global independent media network connecting them
with media producers and activists around the world with whom to shear
experience and know-how.

One other very important piece of the thought process is that if this
club that
you create in Maseno can ask permission from your school for the permanent
studio of the indymedia lowed powered FM radio to be built in your
campus, that
will again serve two things:
It will help local indymedia activists in that they will not need to worry too
much about a physical place for the radio and they will get to acquaint
themselves with your students. Your students on the other hand will have a
station on which they can both practice and learn to produce content to help
empower the communities. Thus we are hoping you and Judith could work on that
link together.

In meantime, we need information about the legal requirements for
running a low
powered FM radio station in Kenya.
Forgive my long mail and welcome on board.
Sphinx
