the indymedia convergence achieved a lot
as planned, a clutch of transmitters were built, Prometheus' workshops got
everyone soldering like pros. two complete stations were built - one of
which broadcast from the WSF in Kasarani, the other is apparently now set up
at Maseno University.
a lot of basic training in field recording and digital processing took place
- largely thanks to Danielle Chynoweth from UC-IMC
people did a lot of audio interviews ((which will be published in some form
presumably)
a newsletter was put out - Mpumi from IMC-Jo'burg and Fabian the drivers
behind that
and a screen-printing press was built, CT Butler taking the lead there, with
Kush and Douglas wielding the drill into the wee hours.
there were several visits to poor areas of Nairobi, including linking up
with Korogocho's energetic Koch FM radio people...
yet the imc-convergence was disappointing, frustrating, enraging for me.
