 Dear Peter and all the Indymedia folks:

I have sort of been lurking on this listserv for several months now due
to the fact that I was right in the middle of the WSF 2007 Secretariat.
Your comments plus others are very well appreciated. The brief and
intermittent interactions I had with people like Andy, Fabian, Zoe, CT,
Terna and other Indymedia folks who were in Nairobi was very illuminating
and we really appreciated the input/improvements/suggestions that came
from everybody. We tried to explain that Indymedia Kenya site has been
moribund for several reasons- for example some of the techies who had
initially signed up to help maintain the site quickly lost interest when
they saw it was "an activist" project and some of us who were part of the
original core team could supply stories and distribute them while
possessing neglible html and other tech skills.

Now that WSF 2007 is behind us, we are making concerted efforts to make
IMC Kenya more vibrant and vocal.

We will continue to need the support, solidarity and inputs from all of
you.

Let us however remember that it is KENYANS who have the most to
contribute to the success or failure of the site and therefore, perhaps,
it may be useful to remember that we are not yet dead and buried....

  kenya.indymedia.org currently lives on ahimsa, a server which will
  not
  be doing Indymedia work for much longer. Experience during the WSF
  suggests that Internet access from Kenya is very hard, and it is
  unlikely that IMC Kenya has the ability to maintain this site on a
  regular basis. Already the newswire is attracting spam.

  Could this site be frozen (i.e. no posting to newswire) and migrated
  to
  another server, such as stray.indymedia.org?
