Happy New Year Everybody!!

Good news: I found a private sponsor for my flight to Nairobi,
so I will be coming too!

1) Screen Printing;
2) PR for social movements;
3) Translations;
4) Alternative / "Old" media.

1) Screen Printing Workshop:

Required in Nairobi:
We will need a room, at least 20 square meter, with a couple of
stable tables and good light, and access to a sink, whereas a shower
or something alike would be preferable. The place must be secure.
We need supply of (empty, fair traided...) t-shirts and other garments.
We need to build (wooden) frames, so access to a workshop or the
tools required (saw, hammer, naisl, drill, screws).
A builder's lamp or any other strong light, 500W preferably.
A hand iron, maybe two, and an ironing board. A fan heater, maybe two.
Extension chord. Space to hang up garments.
People volunteering to do the selling.
Graphic designs need to have 100% contrast black and white!
I suppose we can use IT equipment from Indymedia for graphic design?!?
We will need a printer that prints very good quality!!!
Access to a photo copy machine!
If we get to build a caroussell, that would be great!
Smaller materials (some of which i will bring, but feel free to bring
more): tracing paper, proper marker pens in black (different sizes),
staples, screen printing mesh and photo emulsion; squeegies.

Workshop contents:
How to set up a simple screen printing workshop;
Basics of t-shirt graphic design;
Screen building, coating, exposure;
Printing;
Basics of t-shirt advertising, activism, and business.

2) PR for social movements

Workshop discussing differnt means to bring your issues to
a wider public: local, international; target groups,
pressure groups;  politicians, parties, institutions;  media;
your own media and media transformation;  means of communication;
campaign cost calculation and fundraising

3) Translations

I can translate French / English, and the above mentioned
workshops will be held in both languages, either simultaneously
or separately.

4) Alternative / "Old" media.

Adapting the strategies worked out in 2) to different media
environment; practical develpment of printing workshop and
importance of other media such as radio, puppet shows and
theatre, music, etc. Aim of the workshop is to make artists
gather to set up a show. Remember that "old" media is often
the content for the "new" media - radio is broadcasting musik,
electronic music is based on folk music, internet publishes
pictures of theatre, etc. It always falls back to default!
