Hello list,
after a short plenary discussion this morning about the situation and
the attempt to establish an emergency solution since last night,
I had to cancel the three flights for the delegates from Mali and
Nigeria today in order to avoid a larger loss of money.
The chances that they would have been refused entry into the plane or
into the country was too big. Because I cancelled the flights today, we
will be charged another time the cancelation fee of 700 Euros.
I tryed from yesterday with the help of Oloo to establish whether we
could just let them fly anyway and then get them out of immigration on
monday, but we couldn't confirm in time whether this option was
feasable (whether Kenyan Airways would let them board, whether the
immigration would play along)
We are facing now the following situation for collective reflection:
We have five delegates in need of Visa letter, who want to come. We
will not have enough money to get them all here. In fact I am unsure we
can manage to get more than two of them here. Flight ticket prices are
sky rocketing at the moment because of the forum. Flights are fully
booked and tickets are expensive.
We will have some clarity on the cost side only on Monday when I am
able to talk to the travel agent again.
It would help, if the delegates could try to find cheap flights
themselves.
If there are any suggestions and ideas towards this problem let us know
please.
fabian
