[Imc-africa] update

wonder where ther news is?

well, there was no internet at the wsf until a few hours ago.
the power has gone out once.
and kenya.indymedia.org is currently not loading - i assume so many people
are looking to see if something is there that it is overloaded - just a
guess.

anyway, we had a bustling IMC all day - filled with friends we met recently
in the "slums" who are producing lots of audio - we have 8 minidisc
recorders and 2 tape players out at all times.  south africa and germany imc
folks have stopped by.  we have tons of audio and photos and hope to have
some of it up this evening if the internet cooperates.

most of our machines are infected with viruses and shut down reguarly
loosing our stuff - we are wiping and reinstalling OS on everything - i have
never tried to produce media in such a challenging environment.  even the
internet cafes are unreliable.   no wonder the imc network seems to know or
understand little about africa and african media activism.  i hope to bring
lots of stories of what IS happening to other imcs.  amazing music, radio,
even some video.

the station is put together, but not broadcasting.  we are trouble
shooting.  either way, we will put mp3s up.

if the site doesn't cooperate, we will find another place to put it.
