[Imc-africa] kenya imc - server

Hello,

Kenya imc was on ahimsa, which shut down last week. This was announced a long time ago, but apparently kenya hasn't found an alternative space.

Because we feel that it would be a waste to just let it dissapear, we copied the data over to popelin, a vserver in Belgium and set it up readable. I also have the impression that the kenya imc people can't cope with the amounts of spam and trolls, so we've set it up readable, without publishing.

Basically, there still needs a mail to be sent to dnsATsosDOTindymediaDOTorg for small technical adaptation but i would feel uncomfortable by doing so without having asked imc-kenya. So if imc-kenya is ok with hosting on popelin please write an e-mail to dnsATsosDOTindymediaDOTorg with following message:
 aname for kenya.indymedia.org pointing to 62.58.108.44 (popelin.indymedia.org)

For remarks and questions about this move, i'd suggest to write to the imc-kenya and/or imc-africa lists and for technical questions write to popelin-sysad AT lists DOT indymedia DOT org or go to the chat on #popelin. I haven't tested all the details, so if something doesnt work or you get an error message, tell us.

Further notes:

If in near or far future internet access is better affordable, more widespread etc. publishing can of course be reactivated in a minute.

Please also note that the admin is accessible and that there have been no changes to whom has access, so it's still possible to publish features from there.

There are still some standard things, which can be mostly changed from within the admin-area (eg http://kenya.indymedia.org/process/contact.php ) but some of these variables are in a configfile which never has been properly adapted since kenya.indymedia.org existed.
