Hello,

It was just called to my attention the call for help from IMC-Kenya. I
went and I looked and I noticed that they are using the CSS file
design I had made years ago for IMC-South Africa's sf-active
installation ;)

IMC-Kenya should be immediately plugged into the support system that
is available for sf-active websites within the Indymedia network. For
going on 8 years, the sf-active support team has been online in irc,
providing hosting and tech support for sf-active websites.

Since IMC-Kenya is already running sf-active, the quickest way for
them to start having all the tech support they need is to make them
aware of the sf-active support system.

This includes:

1) SF-ACTIVE TECH SUPPORT: Any questions about their software should
be sent to imc-sf-active at lists.indymedia.org ... this is the official
support list for sf-active websites. This is also the place to find a
volunteer who can help them clean up their website, etc.

2) SF-ACTIVE HOSTING: There is an international group of volunteers
who provide hosting for sf-active websites and we organize ourselves
at imc-sfa-servers at lists.indymedia.org ... the main group on that list
provides hosting for sf-active websites on Linefeed servers which are
located at San Francisco Community Colo (so, a 'protected network'
from a legal point of view). I see that imc-kenya is hosted on popelin
and they should be able to email imc-sfa-servers at lists.indymedia.org
and get server support, or they can opt to move their site to the
sf-active installation farm we have at Linefeed.

3) LIVE TECH SUPPORT: As mentioned, the sf-active support groups are
around all the time on IRC. Someone from imc-kenya can use
http://chat.indymedia.org/ to come on IRC and talk to us live, almost
all day, every day in the #sfkids or #sf-active channel. If they just
say they are from imc-kenya and need help, it's likely that someone
will be there fore them.

All of this is there for local IMC's to get the help they need in
setting up and maintaining an indymedia site.

It looks like the first step would be for imc-kenya to make contact
with the imc-sf-active at lists.indymedia.org group and make a request
for a volunteer to help them finish setting up their website. And,
then we could go from there.

Also, someone from imc-kenya should drop by on IRC and get introduced
to the sf-active support people ... again, #sfkids and/or #sf-active
are the channels to find us.
