  Many thanks for your continuing support. Please find below a more detailed action plan.
   
  KENYA INDYMEDIA ACTION PLAN 
  FOR JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2008
   
  ACCOUNTABILITY
  § Kenya Indymedia is a platform and movement of alternative media in Kenya. It comprises of individuals, institutions and organizations that subscribe to freedom of information and empowerment of the grassroots. Kenya Indymedia members and partners include Maseno University, Koch FM Community Radio Station, Maseno University Campus Community Radio Station, Sankara Centre, Warriors Self Help Group, Sasafrica Productions and the Million Youth Action, amongst others. A team of Indymedia activists from some of the mentioned organizations will be collectively responsible for the disbursement and overall accountability of funds. 
  § Minutes from Kenya Indymedia meetings will be availed as proof of collective decisions. 
  § The budget and corresponding expenditures will be sent to all contributors specifically and the Africa Indymedia mailing list.

  This will cater for individuals who cannot access internet. Most people in rural Kenya fall in this category. Kenya Indymedia seeks to ensure that their voice is also heard.

  This will provide 24 hour internet for one month
   
   
   
   
           
  Use mobile phones as a means of gathering information on peace, justice and equality.
   
     
  Mobile phone relay of stories
     
  Many people whose story needs to be told are in places where thee have to be called so that they can share their stories on phone. What they share will later be transcribed and uploaded to the Kenya Indymedia website.

  On average, one dollar worth of airtime will be sufficient for holding a phone conversation with one person
   
           
  Take photos related to peace, justice and equality within the post-election unrest context.
   
     
  Direct uploading by individuals.
     
  Such individuals already own cameras.
     
  Full cost to be met by the people taking photos and uploading
   
           
  Four common cameras that will move around the country, staying in a given place for an average of one week.
   
     
  These cameras will enable to many people who have no cameras to take photos that will show their perspectives.

  These will enable purchase of four digital cameras.
   
       
  Take videos related to peace, justice and equality within the post-election unrest context.
   
         
  Direct uploading by individuals.
     
  Such individuals already own video cameras.
     
  Full cost to be met by the people taking photos and uploading
   
       
  Repair of Kenya Indymedia camera to enable firewire download and battery usage.
   
        
  The Indymedia camera will be used alternately by Indymedia camera professionals to capture video

  These will enable repair of the Indymedia camera.
   
       
  Record audio related to peace, justice and equality within the post-election unrest context.
   
     
  Direct uploading by individuals.
         
  Such individuals already own their own audio recording equipment.
     
  Full cost to be met by the people taking photos and uploading
   
       
  Four digital audio recorders that will move around the country, staying in a given place for an average of one week.
   
     
  These audio recorders will enable the many people who don't have audio recorders to capture audio from their respective perspectives and places. 
   
        400
  These will enable purchase of four digital cameras.
   
       
  Share accumulated articles, photos, video and audio through the Kenya Indymedia website in particular and the Global Indymedia websites in general. 
   
   
     
  From the Kenyan side, daily online sharing of articles, audio, video and photos will be enabled through the already mentioned one month internet. 
     
  The central uploading centre/s in Nairobi will handle the overall online sharing     
     
  Cost is already covered in the one-month internet
       
  Prepare an audio documentary and a video documentary about peace, justice and equality within the post-election unrest context. These documentaries will be distributed freely to all independent and grassroots media outlets. They will also be freely available on the internet. 
   
     
  Indymedia activists who are also professional editors will use the audio and video that will be gathered over a period of one month to prepare the two documentaries 
         
  The documentaries will utilize available raw footage, as accumulated over a period of one month.

  Most costs will be already covered, as the raw audio and video footage will have been already accumulated and the editing will be voluntary. The above cost is for packaging and distribution 
       
  Organize two peace bonanzas to be held in Kibera slum and Kangemi slum. Each bonanza will target approximately 300 people and will involve open debates, presentations and music 
   
     
  Kenya Indymedia will network with Sankara Centre and the Million Youth Action to organize and coordinate these peace bonanzas.     
     
  Physical coordination of these events will be handled by volunteers from the said organizations.

  This cost will cater for transportation, refreshments, public address system and misclaneous/
       
  Mobilize legal expertise to build legal cases on behalf of at least one rape victim and one police shooting victim.
   
     
      Legal practitioners and foundations will be mobilized to take legal action on behalf of violence victims.
     
  Facilitation will vary as per the legal expertise available.

  This is seed funding to enable a speedy but comprehensive handling of the cases.
       
  In the immediate short term, engage in targeted humanitarian assistance.
   
   
        
  Kenya Indymedia will network with Sankara Centre and the Million Youth Action to provide humanitarian support to displaced and other directly affected victims of the violence 
     
  Volunteers from the said organizations will handle the actual humanitarian work in conjunction with other stakeholders

  This will provide seed funding for the food distribution, together with other basic necessities.

  Sankara Centre, which will act as the 'legal home' for Kenya Indymedia is awaiting imminent oficially registration, then it will acquire a bank account that will subsequently be used by Kenya Indymedia.
