[Imc-africa] Delegations / committees

Greetings comrades.

Thank you for these mails it all the inputs sound very promising indeed.
Apologies for missing our last IRC chat the logs have provided me with an
update. Kindly indulge me for this maill is long(ish).

Delegations:

On the matter of delegates; i sent along last week rough estimates of ticket
fares for delegates listed on our archive; may i make a suggestion?

Given the cost of ticket fares and a standing proposal by comrade Amy that we
work with a figure of four (4) delegates for each collective from the Africa and
the global network; that we adopt Ammy's proposal and a principle that each
collective tries to fundraise for additional delegates' travel and accomodation
costs in Durban. This might bring down the overall budget which we send out to
potential funders.

Additionally; that we set a cut off date for submission of final delegations to
attend the IMC-Africa convegence to July 10th 2011 so as to allow for the
applications for funding to be sent to as many doors as is possible and give
ourselves enough time for contingency situations (roughly two months).

Program:

Thank you to comrades Emmem and the programming collective for leading the way
for content concept proposals. I agree with the broad conceptual frames
suggested by comrades. may i suggest that we consider making our program for the
upcomming convergence in Durban to be oriented towards more media output i.e.
coverage of actions, issues, stories , experiences and running a media
production facility similar to how our comrades at Ciranda operated during the
WSF in Dakar media centre. that is, use the skills we shared in Dakar (a very
neccesary preliminary excersise for us all) as a basis for media production
stratergy for Durban. This may mean less energy spent on introspective training
of IMC journalists and more stratergy sessions around coverage of particular
alternative media interventions. getting our media infrustructure ready for the
COP event and assigning roles and reporting modes. That we beef up our common
platform the IMC-Africa website to be a real source of information for civil
society actors interested in the happenings on the ground?

Finances:

Could we request all comrades who have indicated that they will take up the task
of producing a generic funding proposal for the IMC-Africa convergence to please
please please try get us a close to final draft proposal as we have really run
out of time to send this to sponsors. Should comrades need support in this
regard please indicate this so we can all chip in.

Kulture:

There has been great responses regarding the Kulture working group/committee- in
the next few hours i will be forwarding mails to this list with beople keen to
partake and assist where possible especially in bringing Dead prez and other
cultural groups down to Durban for the event, could we get some indication on
how we are prgressing on this front.

Hoping these inputs are taken in the best spirit as they are intended and that
the encourage responses and discussions from here onwards.

Comrade Sphinx- how are you? we are sourly missing your inputs on everything
please send us a salut so we know you are OK.

Salutations camarades.

ONE LOVE
