Hmm. Well, after reading a bunch lately about the different CMS
choices and talking to people who work with different ones, I still
get the sense drupal is ultimately most appropriate for our ambitious
uses. Though, there do seem to be "experts" who we'd have to get to
participate to make the site do what we want it to do, and apparently
none of us are those experts.

I know at least one drupal expert and Josef seems to know someone,
and maybe Jonathan's friend Robb knows a decent amount, and I'm sure
some of the rest of you know others who could really help out,
etc.,... my sense is that all these people are so busy (as we all
are, of course), that the idea of asking any of them to build a site
for a project they're not 100% into right now doesn't seem likely.

But, don't you think that if there are a number of us here who set up
a basic site and get familiar with it, doing a lot of the basic setup
work, forming a really solid core group that is committed to learning
and maintaining what is installed, we'd find it much easier to
communicate our vision to some of these friends/experts and inspire
them to help us where we need it? Our resource right now seems to be
a concept we all like and a number of people who are committed to
making that project work. Some of us here may have to even learn a
lot to do the basic installation and then learn over a long time how
to maintain the more complicated stuff, but I'd rather we start small
and engage in step by step work that takes us forward than to find
ourselves continually in the circular place we're in.
