Hi imc-alternatives,
There's nothing like a discussion about web code to get everyone's
blood pumping! Okay, so I agree with Aaron that this list isn't the
best place for the intricacies of CMS discussion -- please join
imc-cms and make your opinions known there -- but seeing some passion
here again after a couple months of floating has been nice.
Anyway, Nick, who offered to do some alternativesIMC design work, was
in Philadelphia yesterday and we had a really good talk. In person I
was able to lay our vision out for him much better than I was over
the phone, or in documents that we've passed around. Nick asked if
he should hold off on working on design until this CMS thing is
decided. I told him he should start putting ideas together now and
that the design process will be able to work in tandem with any
back-end tech choices. If you're interested in working with Nick on
this, please e-mail him at "nick at artclash.com".
Also, tonight I plan to gather some more information about the
Alternatives IMC and send it along to Ryan so he can pass it around
the imc-cms team. Specifically I'm going to point them toward
discussions we've had about content, "user stories" and other
non-tech aspects of the project. I think our non-tech vision is one
of the strongest parts of the Alt-IMC and it's the thing that excites
me much more than having super-cool code. As his last e-mail
indicates, non-tech issues have taken a back seat in a lot of the CMS
discussions. Maybe this is a place where we can join forces.
Jay
