(from Daniel, one of the crabgrass developers)
hi,
I'm daniel, part of riseuplabs, and a project manager for Crabgrass.
Crabgrass development is being undertaken by a handful of
organization and individuals. Its already a pretty kickass piece of
software, but there is no shortage of development needs and wants.
Whos working on Crabgrass?
-----------------------------------------------
Riseup folks are steadily developing crabgrass, squashing bugs,
adding new features, and plotting towards the goal of building a tool
to empower directly democratic networks.
Radical Designs is actively developing crabgrass for a client called
Greenchange. They have been key in building our collaboration
workflow as well as adding features, and fixing bugs. Radical Designs
will be adding a bunch of new social networking features to crabgrass
in the coming months. Also, the Brattelborro Collective is developing
calendaring for Crabgrass as part of Greenchange develeopment.
Many other individuals have participated in security patches, bug
fixes, and feature changes. Of note is a developer who is developing
Cragrass for use by the UNDP in Europe and Central Asia.
How to Get Involved
-----------------------------------------------
OK, now that you got the basic lay of the land, here are the steps
for jumping in.
1. Create an account at we.riseup.net and request to join the
crabgrass-dev group. Be explicit when requesting access to this
group. Tell us who you are, that you received an email from daniel
(me), and whatever else you want to add by way of introduction.
2. On the crabgrass-dev homepage you will find information regarding
crabgrass installation. check em out and feel free to ask questions
of the crabgrass-dev group.
3. Once you have crabgrass installed locally, check this page out if
you're looking for ideas of projects to work on. Don't feel
restricted by these ideas :)

We've had a great response to the newsletter. Many skilled folks are
steppin up. Its a good time to get involved.
Best,
Daniel
