[Imc-alternatives] talked with Dan from Crabgrass

Hi all,

I just had a great conversation with Dan, one of the developers of 
Crabgrass <http://www.riseup.net>.  I told him about the alternatives 
project and he told me about the way Crabgrass is developing.  Dan 
was involved with the NYC IMC for a couple years and seems to know 
the nuts and bolts of indymedia world as well as most of us.  He was 
excited about the idea of blending the two projects (or, technically, 
having them be separate on the backend, since the code would 
essentially be incompatible, but appearing to the user as if they are 
one unified entity).

Dan is going to join the alternatives group on Crabgrass, and maybe 
even eventually join this e-mail list.  He's also going to send along 
some information about how we can get involved in 
Crabgrass.  Basically, Crabgrass is going to pick up steam over the 
summer, when Dan and other Crabgrass organizers will be on break from 
school, and they'll likely try to officially launch in the early 
fall.  They're working out kinks and honing their vision, as we 
are.  This is a perfect time to connect!
