I really wanted to respond to Mr Liberal's sentiments. Yes, it seems like a
frustrating process, but ultimately we do need a name, and as Sheri says, the
process of choosing it can help us focus our vision for the site's future. It
can also be a constructive process of establishing how we are going to work
together and make decisions about building, maintaining, and evolving the site
through the years. Also, keep in mind that the grunt work of getting the site up
carries on while we have this discussion, it's not an either/ or process. We can
multi-task!
I really want to thank the design subgroup for all their work in focusing all
our years of fluffy brainstorming into these wireframe picture that paint 1000
words for the geeks we expect to build our foundations. I want to re-emphasize
the importance of Jay's point about the 3 functional aspects of the site being
integrated around topic pages - that's the key to what I think will make this
site innovative and effective. I also really agree with the point about lots of
graphics, and space, and being pleasing to the eye. Unlike with paper
publications - where every page added to the project, adds to the cost - we have
as much cyberspace as we need to lay things out in an easily digestive way.
Keep up the good work folks!
