Thank you so much, Nick!

I want to make sure people on this list who haven't been following
the design IRC meetings have some context for the basic set-up of the site.

After a lot of discussions about ways to conceive the site, we
decided to suggest that there should be three main sections:
-- News
-- Knowledge: the knowledge-base, which is a participatory "how-to"
section with practical instruction of how to create alternatives
projects, kind of like WikiHow, and
-- Network, which would include personal and organizational profiles,
lots of ways to connect with each other (chat and forums etc.) and a
wants/needs section, kind of like Craigslist for alternatives projects.

The content for these sections would be integrated on all the
pages. So, on a page with news about alternative education, there
would also be links to Knowledge-base articles about it and to the
profiles of individuals and organizations who do that kind of work.

We decided that the front page could be a "portal" of sorts that
would lead to a main page for each of the above sections, and that
all the pages should have lots of images and look nice, rather than
be packed to the gills with text like many IMC sites.

Nick, Michael and I can do a lot more explaining, so ask questions. Gotta run!
Jay
