Drupal uses a mysql, a relational database backend by default, and Plone
uses an object database (Z Object Database or ZODB) by default, so this
would be difficult to say the least as they are very different database
formats.

Whereas Plone can access and use mysql for custom created objects using
Archetypes or similar, it's not for the core 'objects' that make up the
system, as the benefits of Plone come from building on the object
database it is.

Both DB's have their pros and cons.

Outside of that, I think it would be good to have ANY devs step up to
the plate, possibly on an imc-alternatives-devel list, where all
codebases can organise and contribute too each others projects, not just
fight it out to be the 'winners' ;) however much fun that may be ;)

It would probably be good enough to start on this list first, till
traffic builds up and another list is warranted, it's also good to have
end-users and others input, especially if not coders, as it's just as
valuable (if not more, due to the amount of time a lot of coders have is
limited when online, and project based)

I will ask the axxs.org collective about using BORG. If we can get a
drupal person to step up, I will setup space and access, and will
organise the same for Dmitris and any other plonistas that want to
contribute.

Dmitris, maybe we should co-ordinate on what you need to get an initial
indycore site up, not sure if you use zeo, buildout etc etc or how you
think the best way to organise a devel instance would be. Probably best
to start another thread?

I think we just need to move beyond talking about it asap, in any/either
direction and supporting all projects aiming for the goal. I also think
it really important that non-geeks feel free to contribute in any way
and ask questions and be part of it, it's vital your input on all
levels.
