Hi all,
So, we have two different suggested taxonomy lists, one from the old
alternatives feature:
-- Organizing Society
-- Economics
-- Environment
-- Political Structures
-- Education
-- Media
-- Health
-- Criminal Justice
-- International Decision-Making/"National Defense"
-- Personal Choices
-- Conceiving the Alternatives (theories)
-- Living the Solutions (practical examples)
-- Resources (books, movies, study guides etc.)
and one from EVOLVE:
-- Learning & Education
-- Spirituality & Religion
-- Art & Culture
-- Environment & Infrastructure
-- Health & Wellness
-- Relationships & Empowerment
-- Energy, Food & Water
-- Economics & Business
-- Science & Technology
-- Communications & Media
-- Governance & Law
I like the "this & that" nature of the EVOLVE list. How about we
steal some of theirs for ours, and mush some of ours into theirs
-- Organizing Society (this would be about political systems and
governance, collectives, co-ops, etc.)
-- Learning & Education
-- Economics & Business
-- Communications & Media
-- Art & Culture
-- Environment & Energy (Could include food & water issues?)
-- Spirituality & Religion
-- Famly & Home (having a hard time with this one -- it should be
about "alternative lifestyles" and the way people live their
lives. In the old alternatives feature it was "personal choices." Help!)
-- Health & Wellness
-- Law & Security (this could cover transformative justice and
alternatives to the prison system as well as international law and
alternatives to war)
-- Conceiving the Alternatives (theories)
-- Living the Solutions (practical examples)
-- Resources
I don't know what to make of "Science & Technology" from the EVOLVE
list since those may fit into all the categories. I'm also not sure
what they meant by "Relationships & Empowerment," though I think they
were trying to get at the same thing I indicated above (family & home?).
Let's improve on these.
I assume we'll be able to let people choose a couple categories for
their articles -- up to three? In addition to having users
categorize their articles could we also have them list tags so we can
have some kind of tag cloud so people can search for information that way?
