[Imc-alternatives] TECHMEET 2008 - Virtual Meeting Update

So I attempted to attend the virtual meeting, although it proved a bit
tricky since I couldn't get the stream working, and had trouble figuring
out what was going on ;) However, at one point I got on Skype and spoke
to the proposal for the techs to work with us to put the imc-alt
together as a sandbox for the new cms. It was my first time web
conferencing, and I was quite nervous, talking to a room full of people
I've never met, without even a name + place-of-origin round to break the
ice!

I pretty much worked off Jay's proposal (thanks heaps for putting that
together bro, hope you managed to escape the weather ok), briefly
summing up the mission, and the three functional aspects of our proposed
site. I also emphasized the point that our development process has been
intentionally code agnostic for the last few months. I added that unlike
existing imcs, we don't have an existing database to migrate (which is
always a headache when changing an imc from one codebase to another),
and we won't complain if the site is a bit quirky while the bugs are
being worked out of the new system - we'll just be thrilled to have a
site up!

It was late in the day for people in Rio (they had to pack out
immediately after I spoke), but there seemed to be some enthusiasm for
the proposal. Guess we'll see what happens.
