Kia ora koutou

It's been pretty quiet on this list of late. Hope all your stations, programs
and other projects are going well. We are planning an Aotearoa Indepedendent
Media Convergence in Orkland in the first weekend of February. It would be great
if some radio folk could make it along. More details as they come to hand.

I'm going to be travelling around as usual over the summer. If there are any
events happening that would be good to record for playing on stations, please
post some info to the list. Also I stumbled across this outfit who are based in
Poneke (I think) and offer to record audio AND video of events:

I'm putting a lot of time into the CreativeCommons localisation project at the
moment. I posted a summary of the meeting held at the National Library in August
on this list. CC stands in stark contrast to the approach favoured by the
corporate media giants which involves building 'Digital Rights Management' (DRM)
into hardware, operating systems and software. This CC-licensed talk rips DRM to
shreds in an address to Microsoft staffers. Written by a Cory Doctorow of
BoingBoing, EFF.org, Participatory Culture Foundation (see Democracy Player and
DownhillBattle.org) and MusicBrainz, this audio version was recorded by a blogger:

Here's an interesting experiment. At the bottom of the page under the heading
'MGM vs. Grokster' are three parts of a talk in support of file-sharing set to
electronic music along with various other audio files:

On a totally different subject I found that Democracy Now is being archived on
Archive.org. Here is her 1 hour interview with Vandana Shiva available in Ogg
Vorbis and MP3:

Great to hear about RadioChomsky's community festival broadcasting initiative.
Anyone else been up to anything new?

Have a great summer!
