?Kia ora koutou
As you may be aware by now, I have decided to retire from Aotearoa
Indymedia to focus on my studies and other projects. I am checking
through all my email archives to make sure I send on any crucial
information before I remove myself from the various AIM lists. I have
already removed myself as list admin, but I will remain on the
imc-aotearoa-video list. I have various video projects of my own on the
backburner and hope to hear about what others are doing.
Although this list has so far failed to take off as a shared discussion
forum, it has provided a channel to share and archive posts about
video-related things going on within and around the Aotearoa Indymedia
network, from local screenings to groups like Meat Free Media:
http://www.meatfreemedia.com/menu.php
the kiwi videos included in the Oceania Newsreal:
http://oceania.indymedia.org/newsreal
and the Human Rights Film Festival:
http://www.humanrightsfilmfest.net.nz
We have also introduced you to some of the many groups around the world
involved in production, distribution, and screening of ?independent
video:

Many of the projects I hoped to be organized by co-operation on this
list have come about through other organizations. I am now aware of two
documentary libraries. One maintained as part of the Dev-Zone library:
http://www.dev-zone.org/library/index.php
and another hosted by DemoZone (demozone at slingshot.co.nz), at the
Otautahi Social Centre:

Independent, free hosting of video content is now being provided by
activist sites like by:
http://www.engagemedia.org/
and commercial sites like Cruxy:
http://www.cruxy.com/about.jsp
As well as the web, you can access online video channels like Engage
through the open source Miro Player (formerly Democracy Player),
developed by the Participatory Culture Foundation:
http://getmiro.com/
and the Ion Player, also open source:
http://iondb.com/player/
?Finally I recommend checking out three docos about peer-to-peer media:
