[Imc-arafura] Spam Attack

Hi guys.
Not too sure what's going on at the moment.
We are under some sort of spam attack.
Not the fault of any individual.
Just the internet and computers being themselves. Bloody mongrels.
I spent about two hours this morning deleting seven and a half pages of crap, item by item. Comments reappear at the rate of about ten every four minutes.
So for the moment, while Cam's checking things out, I've disabled comments by anonymous users without moderation, and as soon as the glich is sorted I'll re-enable anonymous comments. So for the time being only (logged in) registered users can post comments. That sux, I know, but it beats spending an hour a day deleting ads for porn, on-line gambling, and dodgey aromatherapy.
Just checked the site again and comments are queueing for approval, not going straight up, so that should keep the site clean for now. But still have to check it daily to let the legitimate comments through.
On Wednesday when I tried to open the site I kept getting a blank screen with "too many connections" at the top. Emailed Dave at netaxxs to see if there was a problem at their end and he said that MIM was suffering a spam attack at the time. So there seems to be a bit of it going around.
I've still got my L plates on with all this internet stuff, so any advice or assistance with anti spam stuff is most welcome.
