Friends,
The Atlanta IAC prepares this list of activities and events as a way to
further solidarity and support among the many progressive organizations in the
metro area. We urge your attendance and participation. Our goal is to build a
greater unity and strengthen the movement as we struggle on so many fronts for
justice and equality.
If you wish us to include an event, please send the information by the Sunday
a week prior to the date.
A reminder that the Task Force for the Homeless is hoping to collect 1000 new
or gently-used coats and jackets to distribute at the Nov. 1 events, marking
the start of National Hunger and Homeless Month. Please call Melana Pavich at
404.230.5000 ext. 169 to make arrangements for dropping off your donations.
Calendar:
Wednesday, Oct. 27, noon-1pm, Rally for Gay Civil Rights, Georgia State
Capitol (Washington St. side). At this protest against the discriminatory
"Amendment 1," heterosexual married couples will denounce the inequalities and
injustices imposed on the gay, lesbian, bi and trans community by the deceptive
language of the proposed constitutional amendment.

Wednesday, Oct. 27, 7-9pm, Teach-In on the School of the Americas,
Georgia Tech, Clary Theater, Student Success Center (located adjacent to
Bobby Dodd Stadium on North Ave.)
This program will provide background and information about the upcoming SOA
protests at Ft. Benning, Nov. 20-21.

Wednesday, Oct. 27, 7:30pm, Intersex Awareness Day Workshop with Caitlin
Childs, Charis Books and More, 1189 Euclid Ave. NE (Little 5 Points).
At birth, babies are given pink or blue caps although many are born with a
body that can't be neatly labeled either male or female. Through her personal
story, Caitlin Childs educates about a hidden oppression.

Marietta, Edgewood, Decatur). Bring the Troops Home Now! End the Occupation!
With both major candidates pledging to "win" the war, it is important that

Nov. 20-21, annual protest at Ft. Benning, Ga. to close the School of
Assassins (SOA).
The IAC and others will meet both Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Inman
Park MARTA station to coordinate transportation. If you need a ride or can give
rides, please respond. More details about the departures times will be posted
later.
The IAC will have a literature table each day, soliciting signatures on a
petition to "Bring the Troops Home Now" as well as flyers about the Dec. 3-10
National Week of Resistance to the War. Please let us know if you would like to
help volunteer.
