ART PAPERS ANNOUNCES SEARCH FOR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ART PAPERS announced today that it has begun an international search for a successor to
its current Executive Director, Jamie Badoud.
ART PAPERS President Peter Bahouth announced the transition, which will be marked by
the planned departure of Badoud on March 15th, 2007. Serving ART PAPERS since
January of 2000, he led the organization to a new level of accomplishment and recognition.
During his tenure, Badoud stabilized then grew the organization into one of the most
respected contemporary art magazines in the world. The organizations budget increased
by more than 125% through a dramatic rise in earned revenues, foundation support, and
successful fundraisers. Circulation grew 80% to include subscribers in 36 countries
and newsstand sales throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Bahouth stated, Jamie Badoud is leaving a very different ART PAPERS than the one he
joined almost seven years ago. Due to his charismatic leadership and tireless work
with a committed board and staff, ART PAPERS has grown significantly in size and influence.
Not only have the organizations fundraisers grown from grassroots garage sales to
some of the biggest and most successful art events of the year, the magazine has
undergone a dramatic redesign and public programming has grown to include some of
the most important figures in contemporary art. He leaves a remarkable record of
accomplishment and leadership. We greatly appreciate his significant contributions.
Badoud stated, My tenure with ART PAPERS has been one of tremendous growth for
myself and the organization. I am proud to leave on the heels of a large
capacity-building grant of up to $100,000 from the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts.
These funds will firmly position the organization for sustained growth and maximize
impact of our expanding programs. Knowing the best is yet to come, I look forward to
witnessing the organizations continued success.
Bahouth added, ART PAPERS has progressed significantly in recent years as an
organization dedicated to the examination, development and definition of art
and culture in the world today. The strong foundation left by Badoud will
help us in our mission to provide an independent and accessible forum for the
exchange of perspectives on contemporary art.
