someone who has more experience with the new imc process can probably
give a more detailed explanation on the ins and outs of this, but
basically it boils down to them needing to start the application
process to become a new imc. as far as i know, its pretty much as
simple as them reading through the principles of unity and deciding
as a group if they agree with them and then applying. i think this
could be expedited by the new imc working group pretty quickly due to
the situation. all the info about starting the process is at:
http://newimc.indymedia.org/ ramzi, can you get all this info to
them? the quicker they do this, the quicker there will be a site,
and this also means the quicker they can request funding from the
global imc pot. as stated before, i think it will be difficult for
global imc finance to decide to fund them if they haven't become an
imc yet. but i think its pretty likely that once they start the
process people all over the world in the indymedia network will want
this to be funded, and funded quickly. actually i think its pretty
clear that people from all over the world want to see this funded
anyway, but the issue is that there is fear of outsiders pushing an
imc on them, (which has happened before during convergences where
there are alot of internationals, and then once they all left there
was a hole that was difficult for locals to fill). it just needs to
be clear that this is a local initiative. i think its clear that the
newspaper is a local initiative, but i think that the application
process for a new imc has to begin, so that they know for sure that
this is the avenue they want to pursue.
does that make sense? maybe sascha or someone else can give a more
detailed answer or correct anything i'm wrong about.
