"as for a website, i think all that is really needed
from baghdad's end,
from my experience, is a way to automatically publish
without having to
code a sitte or rely on someone amillion miles away
to post it. this
wouldn't have to be open publishing though. it could
be more moderated
and still leave room for comments and feedback, in
fact more, for
instance slash/dot might be more suited (also thinking
about the
problems imc-palestine have had with spam etc)."
I disagree with Jackie- I feel it's important the
website should be open publishing. I do appriciate the
point about spam but think that i have a solution...
Can the site be set up so that newswire articles have
to use arabic/ Kurdish script?
If this were possible it would eliminate the vast bulk
of international spam.
(if you do a tour of the foreign language IMC sites
you will see the same English language spam at them
all - Bush daddy, reflections on Proudhon, How to
break a Conservative Libertarian masquerading as a
Liberal etc etc etc )
There is a precedent for this- I belive that Russia
now 'hide' all english language articles (other than
translations or comments)
If we could get the code to block all non
Arabic/Kurdish articles then this would massively
reduce the workload of the new collective.
Through outreach we could then establish a remote US/K
based Arabic/English speaking translation team to
monitor the site and post english/spanish etc
translations as comments to the original arabic
articles.
Tech people- is this possible in any case?
cheers Sam
