Hey Dagny,
If you didn't notice, the proposal to use the url
"belgium.indymedia.org" didn't changed since the first proposal. The 6
local collectives are clear on that since months. We think 6 collectives
have more right to use that url than only one who is mainly based at
Brussels. It seems even logical in indymedia where we've got the concept
of share and exchanges (what we call a network). If i allow myself to
say "we", it's because this is the common idea after long discussions
and ag on this matter (where you were invited to take part since one
year...)
When you say "But don't try to be the centre of the world if you are
not!". I totally agree with you and that's why indy.be can't do it by
speaking in the name of other imc's in Belgium. Those imc's who would
like to set up a wonderful tool of cooperation between the collectives.
Personally, i'm frightened when indy.be speaks about the syndication
site like a "technical solution", it's really a simplistic and erroneous
idea. If you followed and if you wanted to take part, maybe you would be
more informed about it. The syndication is more than that. It's a site
which will allow in the futur a common dynamic and outreach for local
collectives. It's also the base for cooporations which will help and
encourage a strong participation of indymedia in Belgium.
No need to say that indy.be is able to do the same thing with "get
basic", in less than 2 years, more 16 active persons left indy.be
because the reasons you know as well as me. So i'm pretty septic about
this so ambitious project. You can call it "media circus", "get basic",
or even "banana", it doesn't change the reality of the situation and it
doesn't give more sense to its gravity.
If you want more information about what's exactly the syndication site
project, you're of course welcome.
