This organizational meeting aims to bring together social justice
activists in Beirut representing various groups and organizations. The
goal to discuss the organizational and political framework for setting-up
an international solidarity initiative between social justice movements
and activists in Lebanon with those in North America, specifically in
Montreal.
This discussion for this initiative emerges from various political
dialogue and discussions, which have been taking place between activists
throughout the past couple of years. It is rooted in a common consensus to
build long-term, sustainable and organizationally effective links between
social justice movements in Lebanon and those internationally.
Specifically this discussion will focus on the possibility of setting-up a
working organizational body, composed of activists from both Beirut and
Montreal to stragize, plan and organize collective.
The organizational goals for the establishment of this international
solidarity project in Lebanon, which will focus on three key areas, 1) the
organizing of common political campaigns between Lebanon & Canada, 2) the
development of independent media projects, with a focus of transferring
financial & technical resources from Canada to Lebanon, & 3) the
development of a organizational structure in both Beirut & Montreal, which
will facilitate the travel of activists from Canada to Lebanon, with the
goal of documenting, supporting and engaging with local struggles for
social & economic justice....
Clearly the ideas expressed above are working proposals and are subject to
change given the discussions, to take place in both Montreal and Beirut
over the coming months. Please do confirm by email your participation in
the upcoming Beirut meeting....
