According to OCHA Situation Report 39, 20-29 September 2006:
- 14 people have been killed from all types of unexploded ordinance
since the start of the Summer 2006 War,
- 90 people have been injured from them
- The UN mine action center has estimated 1,000,000 unexploded
cluster sub-munitions in South Lebanon
Nahwa al-Muwatiniya is pleased to invite Karine Gavand with Handicap
International, who will be speaking about the:
Campaign to Ban Cluster Bombs
Karine is the Project Manager of Handicap International in Lebanon within
advocacy. She will be speaking about her work here in Lebanon, and more
specifically, this campaign, which is an international consortium of 150
NGOs, including Handicap International, campaigning against cluster bombs.
Handicap International is an international charity working in 60 countries
worldwide in the fields of disability, landmines and cluster munitions.
