MUDDY MEDIA COMMUNIQUE #2
Muddy Media Collective meeting:
2:00pm
Sunday, October 22
214 N Washington
(Around the corner from Longbranch -or- one block north of ABC Liquor)
In the last correspondence it was mentioned that there would be a meeting of sorts soon...
Well, a date has been set (though not in stone.) It has been proposed that next Sunday, October 22 be the first meeting of the newly reincarnated Muddy Media Collective. Members of the collective have spoken with many of you personally, and you have expressed a variety of interests and skills to be offered. No matter in what capacity you see yourself playing a part, it is imperative that those of you who wish to play any part (writing, design, general direction, editorial, monkey juggling) come in and invest a small amount of time in meeting the others who make up the network of support that is necessary for this paper to grow. This will be an informal affair, opening with a slightly more formal, but not too formal (just your Sunday's best, no suits) "meeting" where we will talk about some of the generalities of IMC's, the global Indymedia network and what needs to be done right now with Muddy Media.
Punch and cookies... or beer and peanuts... or whiskey and popcorn (whatever you want to bring!)
Chris

PS: For those who are just itching to start writing about something for November...
**Topics to Cover**
So far I've thought of a couple of issues that I figure are kind of important to go into the November issue. In the future this will not be so late notice, sorry.
*Vegetarian Thanksgiving: A very popular yearly event that takes place at the Interfaith Center (IFC.) This can be a short blurb, an advertisement or both.
*School of the Americas Protest: There will be a number of folks from Carbondale attending this action, therefore it should be addressed. The demonstration takes place Nov. 18-19, www.soawne.org for more info. The December issue can be a follow up that actually sums up what took place.
*Election: If we could have a little spread about the local election, that would be pretty cool.
*Green Party Statewide Ticket: This is so cool and has not been covered at all. I will volunteer to put something together for this in the next week or two. I am willing to bet that we can get this published on the US IMC site.
*Thanksgiving: It would be cool to get someone who is well versed in American colonial history to write something satirizing the peaches 'n' creme idea that gets puked all over kids in school about "colonists and Indians coming together and giving thanks for all they had." Just a random idea that might add some spice to the paper.
If anyone would like to write any of these, or anything at all, please reply with the idea. Even if you're not sure where to start with something, we've got a lot of heads that can start pointing folks in the right direction as far as sources and info goes.
