FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Green Technology to be Featured at Festival

April 24, Carbondale – Among the many things to look at and learn about at the first Shawnee
Energy Fest, there will be a spray-foam insulation rig, an RV powered by renewable energy, an
electric lawnmower, and much more. The Festival takes place May 2 & 3 at GreenRetreat, three
miles west of Carbondale.

The spray-foam rig is GreenRetreat’s and uses soy-based insulation. One of the GreenRetreat
staffers will be on hand to explain how the rig works and the benefits of spray-foam insulation.
Also during tours of GreenRetreat, there are a couple places that can be pointed out where the
insulation is visible, so folks can have a glimpse at the finished product.

The “RV of the Future” will also be available for tours. This solar/wind/ethanol powered RV
features 350 watts of solar power, 400 watts of wind power, a 700 amp hour battery bank, a 30 amp
charge controller, insulating curtains, LED lighting, solar water heater, and is outfitted with
energy efficient appliances.

An electric mower from Neuton Power will be given away in a raffle. The CE-5 battery powered
mower runs up to an hour on a single charge, produces no emissions, and is very quiet. Raffle
tickets will be available at $1 each or 6 for $5, and the drawing will be held at the Festival
closing, 5pm Sunday.

Shawnee Energy Fest activities include workshops and presentations on a variety of energy and
environmental topics, solar-powered bandstand, kids tent, great food, a wellness center, and tours
of GreenRetreat. For more information, visit www.ShawneeEnergyFest.org and www.GreenRetreat.org
