Jan 4 State of the State Protest against Fracking
We are calling on all New Yorkers who care about the future of New York to
come to Albany on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 for Governor Cuomo's The
State of The State address. We are the citizens of the Southern Tier who
have endured great hardships over the past years from the destruction of
our economy due to the terrible floods. We will not be dealt the final blow
of polluting our beautiful region with an industrial scale assault on our
environment and our way of life. We need your help to show our strength and
the magnitude of the anti-fracking movement on Day #1 of the New York
legislative session. Governor Cuomo and our State legislators need to know
that as long as the DEC continues to move toward adoption of the fatally
flawed SGEIS then we in the Southern Tier are in a continued state of
emergency.
Join us for the THE MOST IMPORTANT RALLY YET on January 4th, 2012 at
10:30am on the Concourse outside of the entrance to the Empire State Plaza
Convention Center. This will be the defining moment of the years of work we
have all done to protect all New Yorkers from hydrofracking.
Sincerely,

NYRAD New York Residents Against Drilling www.nyrad.org<http://www.nyrad.org/>

Join parents and students from across the state at “First Things First
2012”, a speak out and demonstration to demand:
An opportunity to learn to ensure college and career readiness for ALL
students
Investment in quality early childhood education
Affordable and quality public colleges and universities
Our children have lost quality programs and teachers, and college tuition
has increased while corporations receive billions of dollars in tax
loopholes! The recent tax reform was a milestone but there is more that can
be done to make sure our schools are fully and fairly funded. Demand that
the Governor and the Legislature close corporate tax loopholes in order to
generate revenue to restore the state’s cuts to education.

The Governor and Legislature need to hear loud and clear from us.
Just a week before the Governor is set to release his budget, our
discussion will include:
Full and fair funding for our schools
Educational best practices to prepare students for college and careers
Effective strategies to MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD this legislative session
Please spread the word to your networks and join us!!!

Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible

A documentary film and guided discussion offered by the Social Justice
Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation. This film provides
pathways for learning that can build real bridges between white people and
people of color, who can then have authentic relationships across a racial
divide. Mirrors of Privilege allows white people to find their own voice,
and to reflect on their own experience. They hear from role models — other
white people who have committed themselves to racial justice. People of
color have an opportunity to focus on their own issues of internalized
racism, should they chose to do so. The film’s Conversation Guide allows
the issue of racism to be discussed in a way that is not at the expense of
people of color. Open to the public, Friday, January 13, 6-9 pm, Unitarian
Universalist Congregation, 183 Riverside Dr., Binghamton.
  Fri Jan 13 2012 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
