Hey,

At the recent Schnews gathering in Brighton a couple of people stated
that as a network we don't really explicitly discuss politics.

So here goes - this was discussed recently on irc and also relates to a
recently established list to discuss "payment for imcs" - You can read
this list here: http://lists.indymedia.org/mailman/listinfo/payment-discuss
Believe it or not there are a minority of US based imcistas who are
pushing to legitimise payment for what we all recognise as volunteer
based work.

Here's a couple of links, including a radio show you can listen to, that
focus on exposing the 'non-profit industrial complex' and shows how
corporate money channelled through major foundations have insidiously
co-opted radical political movements and 'community leaders':

Complex* - http://www.southendpress.org/2006/items/87662

'Mon 4.30.07| Nonprofit Blues

Progressive nonprofits dominate the left-liberal landscape. Should the
fact that these groups are accountable to their funders -- often private
foundations -- give us pause? And why are more and more people on the
Left using the term "nonprofit industrial complex"? Violence prevention
educator Paul Kivel and community activist Eric Tang contributed essays
to The Revolution Will Not Be Funded.'
