Hiya process, network and ionnek,
Thanks to all kollectives for the quick responses to the email i sent
here a few days ago:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-process/2009-January/0129-
28.html
For the moment the groups willing to sign the letter are:
- Nottingham:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-process/2009-January/0130-
5u.html
- Bristol:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-process/2009-February/0202-
i9.html
- Oxford:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-process/2009-February/0202-
0o.html
- Birmingham:
http://lists.indymedia.org/pipermail/imc-uk-process/2009-February/0202-
x6.html
And this was also mentioned at the last London meeting a few days ago
and it was decided that London also wants to be included as a signatory.
So i guess letters can start to be sent out to ionnek's list of
contacts :-)
Also all the kollectives that have replied also offer 'extra' help.
Well, we think one of the best things people and local groups could do
now is to help spread the news about the seizure, and to try to collect
as many statements of support as possible. So feel free to send this
letter to any academic contacts people and kollectives may have, as
well as to media (independent or otherwise), civil rights and civil
liberties associacions, unions, whatever you can think of.
This would help a great deal in terms of creating a public cushion for
imc-uk, it's like stating imc-uk its not alone, which can become quite
useful.
Anyway, so far what has been sent (and some contacts that haven't been
sent yet) are listed in this wiki:
https://we.riseup.net/ionnek/server-seizure-imc-support-campaign
In there you can also find templates of letters to advocacy groups,
journalists and groups outlets, and the academics / researchers one.
Please feel free to email any of the contacts listed in that wiki, and
if you do so please amend the wiki accordingly.
if you mail people don't forget to attach the press release that it is
here:
https://we.riseup.net/imc-uk/2009-server-seizure-press-releases
If you contact anyone that is not listed in the 'support' wiki above,
please add it to the wiki too in its relevant section. As we said
before, now the more noise the better, and the more 'statements of
support' that can be gathered the better too.
Once people gets responses (statements of support) they can then be
added to the 'Indymedia UK server seizure 2009' info page;
http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2009/01/420278.html
Nice one, and get emailing! :-)
